Ground is the reference for electrical system measurements and performance. Bonds and the neutral are connected to the ground system in a very precise way, but bonding and neutral is not a ground. Codes and standards for grounding are identified. A proper system is described. Stray current and transient management depends on proper ground connections. The three energization issues with grounding are illustrated. The fault process is described in detail. The difference in effect of electrical exposure to inanimate as well as biological organisms is discussed.
